Etwas nervig ist unter Ubuntu/Gnome, dass für jedes verbundene Netzwerkshare bzw. jede angelegte, feste Netzwerkverbindung (FTP, SSH, WebDav) automatisch ein Icon auf dem Desktop angelegt wird.
Das lässt sich jedoch ganz einfach deaktivieren:
-> Alt + F2 -> "gconf-editor"
-> apps -> nautilus -> desktop -> "volumes visible" ausschalten. Fertig.
