How to Fill an Area with Color

Learn how to use Bucket fill in SimpleSnip to fill a region of a layer with a solid color.

1. Select the Fill tool

   Click Fill in the toolbar, or press G.

2. Set your color and opacity

   Pick a color from the toolbar swatch, and set the Opacity in the options bar.

3. Set tolerance

   The Tolerance slider (0 to 100) controls how close in color a pixel needs to be to get filled. A higher tolerance fills a wider range of shades.

4. Choose Contiguous or not

   With Contiguous on, only the connected region under your click fills. Turn it off to fill every matching pixel across the whole layer at once.

5. Click to fill

   Click the area you want to fill. The fill is masked to the active selection too, so it never spills past a selection's edge.

💡 Tip: Alt-click while the Fill tool is active to sample a color instead of filling, handy for picking up an exact shade before you fill with it.
