How to Apply Photo Filters

Learn how to preview and apply filters to a layer in SimpleSnip, for free and in your browser.

  1. Select a pixel layer

Filters apply to one layer at a time. Click the layer you want to adjust in the Layers panel. The locked Background layer can't be filtered.

  2. Open Filters

Open the Filter menu and click Filters…. It opens as a floating window on desktop, or docks above the toolbar on a phone so the canvas stays visible.

  3. Pick a preset

Choose from B&W, Sepia, Invert, Vintage, Warm, Cool, Noir, Fade, or Pop. The canvas updates instantly so you can compare.

  4. Fine-tune the strength

Drag the Intensity slider to blend between no effect and the full preset.

  5. Apply or reset

Click Apply to bake the filter into the layer's pixels (you can still undo it afterward), or Reset to discard the preview and start over.

💡 Tip: The preview is non-destructive until you click Apply, so try a few presets freely before committing to one.
