How to Draw Shapes on a Photo
Learn how to draw rectangles, ellipses, and lines on your image with SimpleSnip's Shape tool.
-
Select the Shape tool
Click Shape in the toolbar, or press
R. -
Pick a shape
Choose Rectangle, Ellipse, or Line from the options bar.
-
Set fill and stroke
For rectangles and ellipses, toggle Fill on or off and set its opacity; the fill color is the shared foreground color. Toggle Stroke for an outline, pick its color, and set its width. A line only has a stroke.
-
Draw it
Drag on the canvas to draw the shape. Hold
Shiftwhile dragging to constrain a rectangle to a square, an ellipse to a circle, or a line to 45-degree angles. -
It lands on the active layer
The shape is drawn directly onto the selected pixel layer, masked to any active selection, just like the Brush.
💡 Tip: Draw a shape onto its own new layer if you want to move, restyle, or delete it independently later.
