How to Resize, Rotate, or Flip the Canvas

Learn how to resize, rotate, and flip the whole canvas in SimpleSnip.

  1. Open Canvas size

Open the Image menu and click Canvas size….

  2. Set a new width and height

Type the new size in pixels. Click the chain icon to lock the aspect ratio so both sides scale together.

  3. Choose an anchor point

Pick where your existing image sits within the new canvas using the 3x3 anchor grid, for example top-left to grow the canvas downward and to the right.

  4. Resize

Click Resize. Your content keeps its exact pixel size; the canvas grows or crops around the anchor you picked, nothing is scaled.

  5. Rotate or flip the whole canvas

For rotating or mirroring instead of resizing, use Rotate 90° CW, Rotate 90° CCW, Flip horizontal, or Flip vertical in the same Image menu.

💡 Tip: Resizing the canvas is different from Free Transform: it changes the canvas boundary itself, while Free Transform scales the content inside it.
