How to Crop an Image Online

Learn how to crop an image for free in SimpleSnip, right in your browser.

  1. Select the Crop tool

Click the crop icon in the toolbar, or press C.

  2. Adjust the crop box

A box appears over your image with handles on the corners and edges, plus a rule-of-thirds grid. Drag a handle to resize it, or drag inside the box to move it. To start over, drag on the dimmed area outside it.

  3. Pick an aspect ratio (optional)

Choose Free, 1:1, 16:9, or 4:3 from the bar above the canvas to lock the box to an exact ratio. The readout next to it shows the crop's pixel size as you drag.

  4. Apply or cancel

Click Apply to crop the canvas down to the box, or Cancel to leave it untouched. You can always press Ctrl+Z to undo.

💡 Tip: On a phone or tablet, the crop handles are bigger for your finger, and you can still pinch to zoom in on a corner before fine-tuning it.
